GRUNDY COUNTY SPEEDWAY JOINS HIGH SCHOOL RACING ASSOCIATION SERIES

MORRIS, IL – Grundy County Speedway  has added the High School Racing Association (HSRA) series to its schedule in 2024  with four dates planned for the race season. Grundy, as a premier Illinois 1/3 mile high-banked paved short track, joins Sycamore and Macon Speedways as Illinois HSRA-sanctioned race tracks – both of which are dirt race tracks.

“We’re thrilled to add Grundy to the HSRA schedule this season,” said HSRA Director Jonathan Eckelberg. “Both asphalt and dirt stock car racing will be a viable opportunity for Illinois students and allow for even more weeks of racing for these new racers if they want it.”

Grundy County Speedway  has added HSRA to the following 2024 Saturday race nights. Racing begins at 7:00 p.m.

“We’re really excited to welcome the HSRA to our track,” said Steve Bechtel, Grundy County Speedway Promoter. “I’ve heard nothing but great things about this in Wisconsin and I’m glad to see it starting to catch on in Illinois. It’s important to get kids interested in our sport at a young age and the HSRA is a great place for them to start.”

The HSRA features American Production six-cylinder sedans with many safety requirements. The driver’s high school colors and/or mascot must be incorporated into the paint scheme and design of the car. Students entering their freshman year of high school, current high school students as well as those just graduating from high school, with a minimum age of 14 and maximum age of 19 are eligible to compete. A complete set of rules and regulations can be found on the official HSRA website at highschoolracing.org.

Race tracks, high schools, students or supporters who want to learn more, are encouraged to contact Jonathan Eckelberg, HSRA Director at jon@highschoolracing.org or 608-769-3903.
